Hey & Welcome!

My name is Elinor, and I'm the proprietress of Sovereign Mama Herbs.

I’ve been an herbalist for about 9 years and it is one of the greatest loves of my life. I did a more traditional in person apprenticeship for 3 years with Linda Conroy, learning and experiencing through the wise woman tradition. I’ve also spent time with Susun Weed, Isla Burgess & CoreyPine Shane and I’ve organized large women’s herbal & mushroom conferences. I’ve done intensives with Rachelle Seliga, Kim Anami, Emilee Saldaya & Yolande Norris Clark. My interest are broad, however I am especially committed to learning about plants, women, mothering, sexuality and birth. I am also an artist, graphic designer and lover of song.

I’ve been a mama for 5 years and that has been by far my greatest initiation into life itself. I’m excited to be here and offer herbal education & support for the mothers in my community and beyond.

I'll teach you how to be the healer, the tender of your home and your family, by working with common plant allies.

Yes AND what do you do exactly?

To put it simply, I am an herbalist, someone who works with plants. I work with plants for food, medicine, lifestyle & health. I work *mostly* but not exclusively with plants in the area that I live. I apprenticed in the wise woman tradition of herbalism and that tradition of healing focuses mainly on common, weed type plants that are abundant.

I also focus on nourishing herbalism, in that I am interested in nourishment from the ground up and working with plants for overall health & well-being, rather than simply matching plants to symptoms. One of the ways I do this, which is another tenant of the wise woman tradition is to focus on plants that are nutritive and safe. I work with plants in a variety of ways, including medicinally for health in acute & chronic situations, as well as everyday in my kitchen, home & garden.

How does this all relate?

You'll find lots of musings & information about herbalism in my work. As well as plenty of overlap in regards to mothering, birth, sexuality, women's culture, & song.
